What is focaccia, anyway?
That’s an easy one. Focaccia is very similar to a pizza dough! Focaccia is a flat bread and it’s baked in the oven.
What makes focaccia easy to use for appetizers?
Another easy one. It’s flat! You can top focaccia with almost anything you like! You can even use it as a pizza crust if you like your crust a bit thicker! Focaccia is also great hot or cold – so it is easy to work with in that respect! You can even serve it on it’s own like you see here:
To bake or not to bake?
Personally, I don’t bake my own focaccia when making my Focaccia Mini Pizza appetizer. Why? Well, it just wouldn’t be easy. Focaccia making is an art – and when I entertain, I’m focused on my guests, not standing in the kitchen prepping all day. I do, however; have a favorite recipe. If you’re up for the challange – check out this focaccia recipe from Sally’s Baking Addiction. She’s done all of the testing for you – and I’ve made her recipe. It’s fabulous. I make non-bake suggestions in the recipe.
