Do you need to figure out some fall signature wedding drinks? Here’s how to choose a signature cocktail for your wedding.

Signature cocktails are here to stay, and when you’re gathering all of your wedding ideas, choosing that signature wedding cocktail can be just as stressful a task as picking your wedding cake! Fall signature wedding drinks are a fun way to share your love of the season with your guests.

What are the best flavors for a fall wedding drink?

The flavors of fall are incredibly distinct.  Think about these flavors and you are immediately taken to a place with crisp air and fall festivals:

  • Pumpkin
  • Cinnamon
  • Butterscotch
  • Apples
  • Ginger
  • Cranberries
  • Maple syrup
  • Salted Caramel
  • Pear
  • Bourbon
  • Pino Noir

There are so many amazing scents, and these sum up fall perfectly.

Steps to choosing your fall signature wedding drinks:

STEP 1: Choose an alcohol that you enjoy drinking.

You may think that this would happen naturally, but not always.  For instance, in planning my fall wedding I was stuck on the idea of a martini. For three months I tested, tasted, and created so many fall martini cocktails.  The problem? I realized that I don’t always enjoy a martini.  Once I realized that a martini wasn’t going to work for me, I went in a completely different direction.

STEP 2: Decide on what your favorite fall flavors are and use them in your fall signature wedding drink

Just because pumpkin is an easily recognizable fall flavor doesn’t mean you have to like it – or have it anywhere on your reception menu.  What is important is the feeling you hope to convey.  Do you want to encourage a warm and cozy feeling? Is it the chill in the air that is your favorite part of the fall season? Both can be incorporated into your wedding reception planning.

STEP 3: Choose the color

You read that right.  With wedding planning comes your signature color, right?  So wrap it all in by making an easy signature wedding cocktail to match!   Our fall signature wedding drink was a deep cranberry color, and it matched perfectly with the colors of our wedding.

STEP 4: Naming your cocktail:

You don’t need to use the name of the cocktail recipe.  A Classic Brandy Alexander Cocktail doesn’t have to be named the same on your cocktail menu.  What if you decided to use the basic recipe for this cocktail and have it offered as a dessert cocktail? Change the vanilla ice cream to butterscotch ice cream and make a frappe.  Name is something like “Fireside Butterscotch”.  There aren’t any rules. The bartenders guide is not the boss of you. Ours was named the Western Rose.  My friend Kristen came up with the name – it combined the college where we met along with our last name.  See – no rules.

STEP 5: Incorporating your fall signature dink into your reception

Wedding planning or really any party planning requires that you have a consistent theme.  This comes into play with the colors, the menu, the flowers, the venue.  All of it.  Make your signature cocktail part of that planning.  Make a cocktail menu available for your guests to refer to so they can easily decide what their choice may be.  It creates a more intimate setting and incorporates your signature cocktail right into the planning. Getting married in the fall – my best tip for choosing a signature drink:

If you’re getting hitched in the autumn months you get the advantage of beautiful, warm, and cozy flavors, scents, and tastes. My best tip is this – choose some warm, comforting flavors that evoke all the fall feels.  It’s your big day. Slow down a little, and enjoy making the memories.

Do you have a favorite fall cocktail? I’d love to hear about it (and give it a try)!
