There are traditional Christmas punch recipes that include juice and soda, and then there are non-traditional ones like this. I like to call this a Christmas Snow Punch – it’s everything good about a Chrstmas punch without the juice! This Christmas punch (with bourbon) is a new twist on the traditional!
What is Christmas Punch?
Traditionally, Christmas Punch is made to be more light and fruity. Most recipes include cranberry juice, wine or chapagne, apple cider, and fresh fruits. This more non-traditional recipe is more savory than sweet, and uses bourbon, which is a great surprise! Punch has always
How to make Christmas Punch:
This recipe is a creamy version of a Christmas punch. It includes ingredients that you wouldn’t be expecting to find in a large batch cocktail, but it’s so easy to make, and an alternative to eggnog (for those that don’t enjoy it).
To make this recipe you follow the following steps:
- Blend all of the ingredients (minus the bourbon and rum) together in a pot on a medium heat.
- Let simmer, constantly stirring for 5 minutes.
- Place the ingredients into a heat safe bowl with the bourbon and rum and vigorously whisk until blended.
- Ladle into heat safe mugs and top with a sprinkle of ginger and nutmeg.
What is Christmas Milk Punch?
I get asked a lot if this recipe is actually a milk punch. Milk punch consists of the following ingredients:
- Heavy cream or half and half (my recipe calls for both)
- rum
- boubon
- water
- vanilla syrup
- ginger & nutmeg
Traditionally, this punch was served cold, however; like my Irish ancestors, I enjoy it warmed. It’s a savory drink, and for me, it brings out all of the best holiday tastes. The origins of milk punch can be found here in an article that extensively explains its’ origins.
A non-traditional Christmas punch made on the savory side with cream and spices of the holidays! Add a fresh cinnamon stick to stir! As an Amazon Associate and member of other affiliate programs, I earn from qualifying purchases.
