There isn’t much that’s as fun as gathering all of the kiddos together for a Halloween Movie Night party! Just follow these steps to put together the Ultimate Halloween Party for Kids!

Get party ready!

The first step of setting up any party scene is to set the mood.  For an Ultimate Halloween Movie Night for kids – that first step means having that playlist ready and playing before guests arrive.  I’ve found this playlist on Spotify that is appropriate for kids. (For more part

Move that furniture – or go outside!

When you are entertaining, stop thinking that you need to keep your furniture placed where it is every day.  You don’t! Move that couch back, bring in folding tables for food and drink, and create a brand new space with what you have for your party!  Even better? Go outside if you can.  I have a friend who has an outdoor movie area set up behind the house, and it’s pretty incredible.  However; you can also do this with a sheet against a wall or a small collapsible movie screen.

Decorate

Even before having a child I was never into the gore of Halloween.  I enjoy really nice, fall influenced, kid friendly Halloween Decor.  I have written all about some great finds here.

The food for an Ultimate Halloween Movie Night for Kids:

Popcorn is an absolute must at a movie night – but so is candy, and how appropriate is that??  I would offer some appetizers for parents along with some finger foods for kids, but keep it simple, and keep the focus on the snacks!

Serve up your popcorn in a witch’s caldron with some fall flavors packed in!

You should check out this Tebery 9 Pack of Black Cauldron multi-sized bowls.  They are perfect to set up your Halloween Movie Night snack table:

Speaking of candy – make up some candy apples in advance.  Use the lunchbox sized apples to make them even more kid friendly.

Movie Choices

Keep it fun and not too scary!  No parent wants to go to a party and come home with a child who will no longer sleep in their own bed!

Some of my favorite movie choices are:

For younger children:

  • Casper
  • Spookley the Square Pumpkin
  • Curious George – A Halloween Adventure
  • It’s The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown
  • Toy Story of Terror
  • Heffalump Halloween

For older children:

  • Hocus Pocus
  • The Nightmare Before Christmas
  • Goosebumps
  • Ghostbusters
  • Harry Potter & the Chamber of Secrets
  • Halloween Town
  • Halloween Town II

Get that party started!

I can’t wait to hear which ideas you used, and some of the ones you added!  Let us know how your party went!
